SenseiDaveHughesSensei Dave Hughes has over 28 years of training in Kyokushin Karate, in which he holds the rank of Yodan Yundancha (4th Degree black belt). Since commencing his fight career in 1993 he has competed in multiple full contact tournaments, and has coached, and still coaches, many competitors and champions in full contact tournaments both nationally and internationally.

Dave also has 15 years experience of weight and strength training.

With extensive background in Emergency and Cardiac Nursing for 20 years, he is a Nurse Unit Manager of a medical unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Dave uses his extensive martial arts experience and intimate knowledge of competition, technique and deep understanding of the human body to inspire students to push beyond physical limits and strengthen their mind. Dave believes that the martial arts bring balance and harmony to life, and that the more one learns about Kyokushin karate, the more one realises how little one knows. However, he believes this is strangely satisfying as it's the journey, not the destination, which enriches and strengthens.

Dave believes that as a teacher, it is incredibly satisfying to assist people in their personal growth and achieving their goals. Kyokushin is a worldwide family, the only right of passage needed to enter this family, is to sweat with us!
