Jim began his Martial Arts journey as a kid, studying and competing in Shotokan Karate. Martial arts and self-defence have been a big part of his life since then. He has competed in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and also trained in Japanese Jujutsu, Filipino Martial Arts, Kudo and Krav Maga. He is driven towards becoming a well-rounded martial artist and to helping others do the same.
Jim comes from an academic background and holds a PhD in community development. He brings this teaching and research experience to the mats. He believes in using Martial Arts to build stronger and more inclusive communities.
