Heikki Martikainen began training with Punong Guro Johan Skålberg in 1996 in a quest to further develop his knife skills after receiving black belts Judo, Karate, Kempo and Ju Jutsu. His journey in martial arts commenced in 1980, when he was 6 years old, and by 1989 was competing in Judo on a national level and teaching. He has travelled the world training martial arts with a multitude of Grand Masters, Masters and instructors to further enhance his knowledge base both for himself and his students, has competed on a national and international level in numerous competitions such as Judo, Combat Ju Jutsu, Karate and grappling and coached champions in Combat Ju Jutsu and Muay Thai.
With the rank of Lahong Guro, 7th degree master level, Heikki Martikainen has the honorary Kali Sikaran International title of Chief at Arms meaning “Guardian of KSI”; this honorary title can only be awarded by Punong Guro Johan Skålberg.
Heikki has a sound understanding of what works in a real world situation. He is a former Finnish Special Forces NCO and had a long career in law enforcement. Heikki promotes KSI worldwide through his travels and has lived in Australia since 2011 where he has successfully created a following of KSI students.
